Quick shot back at soccer...
Since the whole thing between Zizou and Meterazzi seems to be heading towards an eventual end, I thought I'd mention something...
Today's editorial page of USAToday had several write in opinions discussing why Soccer sucks/won't succeed in America/is boring, etc.
One of the common threads is that we're not good at it...
Are we such crappy sports fans that we'll only watch a sport if our team is good at it? I thought the American dream was to crush all comers in fair competition...
Of course, maybe this makes sense... Basketball has been on the decline ever since we ceased dominating at the highest level... Baseball had a resurgence fueled by (apparent) steroid use and homerun race that may or may not be tainted... Maybe American fans need to know that they're the best at something...
Thank goodness we still dominate in football... I'd hate for that sport to take a slide ;)

You know the people that wrote the negative comments probably had their girlfriends stolen by soccer players in high school.
I really think MLS needs to join USL and any club teams that form to have some sort of relegation standard and stop trying to be like other American leagues. They need to get investment from Europe and be what they are, a development league. They can get the young European, South American, and African players to come here to live and develop in a real league while enjoying media obscurity so they don't go nuts.
I think if clubs form, Hallville should field a team, and we should affiliate with Chelsea. LA is no place to mold young players.
Hallville will definitely field a team... Chelsea developmental players would be nice... but I'd really like to get ahold of those West Ham kids...
Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Glen Johnson, Jermain Defoe and before them all, Paul Ince... Pretty illustrious group
Yeah, but we want affiliation with Chelsea so we can go to their London facilities for company Christmas parties. You know Roman's gonna have a pretty awesome spread.
