What do these people have in common?

George Clooney, Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Alan Alda, Jason Alexander, Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Billy Crystal, Cameron Diaz, Sally Field, Morgan Freeman, Jeremy Irons, Helen Hunt, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey and Charlize Theron?

Well, they're not idiots... that's for sure. These are just some of the purported 130 names that signed onto a letter urging SAG members NOT to strike. I'm in shock that they would consider a strike to be a sound tactic at this point. How out of touch do you have to be? The California market is cratering as bad or worse then almost anywhere (Nevada and Florida not withstanding, perhaps). Is this really the best time to do this? Throw on top of that the debilitating strike from last year and you're looking at something that could have wide ranging implications. With two big work stoppages in a 24 month time span, it seems unlikely that every studio and network would survive unscathed. It's good that some people in Hollywood aren't complete idiots.

For the record, the following people endorsed the strike: Mel Gibson, Ed Harris, Hal Holbrook, Holly Hunter and Martin Sheen along with national board members Justine Bateman, Elliott Gould, Diane Ladd and Kent McCord
